USGBC ALabama Chapter

Advocacy

This Committee is closely co-ordinated statewide in order to devise and deliver a realistic and effective local and state policy program in Alabama in 2009. Possible elements of the program (to be finalized in 1st Qtr) to be chosen from the listed elements in National's proposal (plus any new ideas from the Committee):

  • communicate with State legislators; e.g., to encourage a Green Schools Caucus in the state
  • educate decision-makers on other important issues in Alabama
  • encourage Mayors' to sign up for Green Schools Alliance (see below) and provide information and expertise

The ideal size of the Committee, frequency of meetings, and time commitment to be determined by the Statewide Policy Advocate in consultation with the Residential Committee Chairs at the Branch level. The Statewide Policy Advocate, a Chapter Board member, reports to the Board and to the State and Local Advocacy Program at National.
