The goal of our branch is to raise awareness, expand member knowledge, and promote green building principles and practices along the Gulf Coast of Alabama.   We would love to hear from you, meet you at one of our meetings, and have you help us promote green building on the Gulf Coast.

Below is a summary of upcoming events organized by the Gulf Coast Branch of AL USGBC and some recommended green building events organized by other organizations. Many of these are save-the-dates notices with later info to follow.  


Mon Mar 1 & Tues Mar 2 – Greenprints Conference – Atlanta, GA

The premier green building event in the southeast organized by Southface  


Tues Mar 9 – Gulf Coast Branch AL USGBC Lunch-N-Learn – Mobile, AL

Mobile Habitat for Humanity will present an overview of their building program which include 100% Energy Star certification and other green building elements integrated into their approximately 40 homes built per year.

To be held at their Restore Building on West Government Blvd. Stay tuned for further information on directions and lunch.  Come early (11:45) if you want to hear about the new LEED-AP study group that is forming. Stay later to network with other green building participants.  


Wed Mar 10 – Sat Mar 13 – Power Up Conference – Ft. Walton Beach, FL

Power Up 2010 Energy Conference & Expo provides an unmatched opportunity to connect with other energy industry experts, influential business leaders, policy makers, conservationists, and green building enthusiast, as they share innovative techniques to address the energy issues and advance the green building movement.  


Wed Mar 17 – Green Drinks 5:30 – Mobile, AL

On St Patrick's Day, the GC AL USGBC will be hosting the March Green Drinks gathering at Serda’s in downtown Mobile. 

Green drinks is an informal monthly social gathering of people who work in, or have an interest in environmental fields.

We have a lively mixture of people from NGOs, academia, government and business. Come along and you'll be made welcome. It's a great way of catching up with people you know and also for making new contacts. Everyone invites someone else along, so there’s always a different crowd, making Green Drinks an organic, self-organizing network.


Sun Mar 21 – Tues Mar 23 - IES/USGBC South Regional Conference - Tupelo,MS

This will be an exciting event filled with educational opportunities for IES members based on sustainable tools and techniques!  The theme for the conference is “Sustainable Strategies that Improve Building Efficiency-Leveraging Lighting”.


Sat 10 April – Baldwin County Habitat Build Day with AIA – Foley, AL
Join AIA in volunteering for a day to help build a Baldwin County home.  See info on AIA Mobile’s web site.


Sat 17 April – Dauphin Island Sea Lab Discovery Day event– Dauphin Island, AL
You may be able to have a Self-Guided Tour of the new LEED building.


April Earth Day Events – Habitat for Humanity on both sides of the Bay – South Alabama
Stay tuned for some Hands-On Green Education Days.
