Membership

The Membership Committee carries out the Chapter's Annual Plan with respect to member recruitment and retention. This includes: devising a member recruitment plan and carrying out the campaign in the Branch area; responding to member queries and requests; assisting Programs and 'staffing' every local event to engage with members; working with Programs to cultivate event sponsors.

At the branch level, the committee should meet monthly and document actions in their minutes. A Committee of at least 5 individuals is recommended at the branch level. Committee members must be current Chapter members. A total time commitment of between 3 and 10 hrs/person/month is anticipated. In addition, the Membership Committee Chair meets by telephone with his/her counterparts in the other branches and the Board liaison. This is the statewide Membership Committee.

With respect to statewide functions for membership recruitment and/or recognition, close coordination with the other Branches through the Membership Committee Liaison is required. A coordinated approach is also needed with respect to sponsorship, in particular the annual sponsors. A yearly planning session is also needed.

The Membership Committee Chair at each Branch reports to: their BLG, particularly the 2 reps to the State Board, and the statewide Membership Committee Liaison, Gina Murray; gcm0002@auburn.edu
